The EDIT Service
EDIT is working with schools as they become part of the "Super Highway" to
provide training and IT support to raise pupil and adult attainment in ICT
capability.
We are committed to improving teacher competence and confidence in the use
of ICT and have established two significant opportunities for teachers:
 |
All courses lead to a Bradford ICT Certificate |
 |
Selected courses offer The Oxford Cambridge and RSA accreditation. |
EDIT is able to support schools in the design and implementation of ICT
development plans and the managerial and organisational issues concerning
the development of ICT across the curriculum. We include long/medium and
short-term planning, assessment, monitoring and evaluation of the ICT curriculum,
developing an IT policy and subject handbook.
EDIT supports cross-curricular ICT developments as outlined in the National
Curriculum and supports this with an extensive range of centrally developed
materials, software and guidance.
EDIT is committed to delivering a high level of training in a stimulating
environment using the latest equipment, reinforced by professionally produced
materials.
EDIT provides appropriate software and multimedia materials to aid the delivery
of the National Curriculum through ICT.
Bradford ICT Certificate
All centre-based courses now offer teachers the opportunity of gaining an
ICT Certificate in recognition of their skills and understanding on successful
completion of a submitted assignment.
Accreditation Courses
More advanced courses have been designed to offer teachers the opportunity
to participate in short courses that will lead to an accredited Certificate
in Information Technology. The courses are run in conjunction with OCR (Oxford,
Cambridge and RSA Examinations). They are of modular form and cover the major
areas of IT, i.e. word processing, databases, spreadsheets, desk top publishing,
graphics, multimedia etc.
Each module will follow a list of learning objectives covered during a one
day course. There will then be a period of a few weeks in which assignments
are undertaken. The course is completed by a final twilight meeting at which
individual progress will be assessed in order to ensure validated professional
standards.
EDIT is willing to consider applications from teachers who wish to take a
'fast-track' to accreditation. We are also willing to work with schools where
a number of members of staff wish to undertake accreditation.
